Juicelog Wed 030506: If I ever got a chance to do the Q&A in The Guardian Weekend. Here’s what mine would look like:
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Lounging on a sunny beach whilst enjoying a beach picnic and sipping beach cocktails with all of my closest mates.
What is your greatest fear?
To die before my brother’s first child is born.
Which living person do you most admire?
Dr Bell Hooks - her ideas really opened up my mind. One of my favourite essays is the one where she deconstructs Quentin Tarintino’s Pulp Fiction.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Getting too carried away in the moment, committing myself to things and not following through.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
It’s a close toss between emotional unintelligence and inhumanity.
What is your greatest extravagance?
My visco elastic memory foam bed mattress. Every living person should try it at least once in their lives.
Where would you like to live?
Hong Kong for the people. Barcelona for learning more Spanish. Japan for the culture.
What makes you depressed?
Public transport using people who think it's okay to play music loudly on their mobile phones.
What is your most unappealing habit?
Intellectual snobbery.
What is your fancy dress costume of choice?
It’s gotta be an ostentatious and opulent 70’s pimp daddy outfit.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Watching and enjoying repeats of Sex and The City.
Have you ever said ‘I love you’ and not meant it?
Of course, I say it a lot to force myself to come up with different ways of expressing my fondness for people I really dig.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
“That is absolutely smokin” has been one of many stock phrases.
What is your greatest regret?
Forgiving my ex-boyfriend when he told me a massive lie.
What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
To have my loft converted into a library.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Teaching myself to cook.
What keeps you awake at night?
Not remembering to turn off the central heating.
How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who had the balls to stand out from the crowd.
