Juicelog Fri 050107: Aaron Sorkin is back. From the man that gave us the smokin’ The West Wing, I’m slightly ambivalent as to whether Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip has got that magical touch. Having watched a couple of episodes I immediately recognised some of his hallmark touches which include excellent production values, a superb cast (quite a few of them we’ve already seen from The West Wing) and the rapid machine gun dialogue.
Borrowing the formula from the political humour of it’s Emmy award winning sister show, the script is fairly clever but is lacking with the witty moments. Not sure if Sorkin is going to be able to produce enough tricks, twists and turns to keep viewers interested in the characters and internal politics of a TV series about the behind the scenes workings of a TV series.
