Pearl Liang

Juicelog Sun 220407: Myself, Wai and dad checked out Pearl Liang (a new Chinese restaurant) in the concealed area of Sheldon Square (in Paddington) for dim sum. Pearl Liang is the phonetic translation for the Chinese word “beautiful”. And the beauty of this place is depicted in a variety of ways.

As soon as we arrived we were immediately seated which is awesome as Sundays afternoons tends to be a day of rest for the Chinese community. Décor of the place is pretty stunning as they’ve gone for non traditional colours with quite a contemporary feel. Our dim sum selection consisted of:

  • octopus fishcakes
  • har gau (prawn dumplings)
  • fried beef hor fun
  • cheung fun
  • barbequed pork fried buns
  • shanghai styled dumplings

All of our dishes were yummy and the standard was definitely above average. Two dishes that really stood out for me were the shanghai styled dumplings (which has been highly recommended in the Chinese press) and our plate of four different types of cheung fun (which is a steamed rice noodle pastry roll).

Our bill came in at just under £30 which I think is a very average price for what we consumed. Definitely worth checking out if you can locate the place!

On My Bike

Juicelog Thurs 190407: With the onset of the early sunny weather, I have been recently riding into work on my bike. Today, I got a little bit more daring and started listening to my iPod whilst riding along the backstreets of West London.

Absolutely love the fact that I can get to work in half my normal traveling time whilst also giving my body a little cardiovascular workout.

Surrender, Surrender

Juicelog Sat 140407: Whilst the gayboys were bukkaking each other in the Liverpool Street branch of Chariots sauna. Bryan W. took us to City Paintball round the corner for five games of hardcore paintballing. In theory this sounded fun but when it came down to it, this was a fairly vicious game which left us with a few bruised injuries and battered wallets (£10 for 100 paintballs!!!!). Even though our team lost most of the games, we congratulated ourselves with coming up with team name of “G Force”.

After the game we went for a few drinks in Shoreditch until Bent Dick turned up in his pimpmobile and ushered us back to his place for a sunset smoothie.

Daddy Dick’s 42nd

Juicelog Thurs 050407: Joined daddy dick’s gang for his 42nd bidet dinner at Andrew Edmund restaurant tonight. Squashed into one of the corners downstairs we still managed to sing happy birthday a couple of time for daddy dick and the rest of the diners celebrating their birthdays tonight. All the food served up tonight was absolutely sensational.
