Juicelog Thurs 030507: Had an uplifting but brief drinking encounter with Matt B this afternoon. Matt gave me mini updates whilst simultaneously promoting about how wonderful and relaxed life in Bristol is. When I was given my opportunity to download my life into his consciousness I soon realised he had not been reading my blog. After getting over the shock and revulsion, I explained the concept of a blog to him until I shut down the 9 year generational difference between us.
After grasping the blogging concept, he then quizzed me about what I get out of blogging and so I explained to him how it works for me in a variety of way. One of the benefits is that is acts a time saving device, as it has reduced the amount of people asking me that aged old question of “what have you been up to?”. More importantly it allows me to visualise my thoughts which in turn has a soothing therapeutic effect.
After my 60 minutes with Matt, I rushed down to the National Theatre to join David Wantsome for Attempts On Her life. A fairly ambitious production but unfortunately the play was disappointing. Utilising a variety of media media clips and different voices it went about trying to present different sides to the central character called Annie.
During our performance there were two technical glitches and I never quite worked out why the actors themselves were so heavily involved in the technical side of things. This was fairly distracting and took away the focus from the content which was fairly fast paced and heavily descriptive. The parody of the X-Files and Newsnight Review were quite witty. For me the whole thing felt empty as most of the clips were too short and this didn’t allow for there to be any real build up and hence lost of connection with the audience.
